I shot my first wedding at 17. It was terrifying and I knew I would never ever do it again… until 2005, when a friend asked me to shoot her wedding and I found myself smiling as I looked through the camera. The whole day I grinned ear to ear. Now, at every wedding, I’m grinning like a fool behind that lens. By some miracle I’m invited to share in people’s best moments, charged to capture these precious things for generations. I tear up at most weddings, not always during the ceremony. Sometimes it’s during the first dance or toasts. I love what I do. Life has somehow graced me with the good fortune of capturing it’s most emotive bits. And for that I am so lucky.

Besides her fan-freaking-tastic talent as a photographer, Kristy is also the true definition of an ally to our community. Cydney and I were lucky enough to meet Kristy when we won a contest in which she generously agreed to provide wedding photography for an LGBTQ couple as a demonstration of her support for gay marriage equality. And, as if that weren’t great enough, she also made time during a visit to her family on the East Coast to meet up with us, enjoy a cocktail or two, and shoot some amazing engagement photos for us as a bonus prize! Our photos went right up on her blog, as did a big posting on her support of National Coming Out Day. You can’t put a price on that kind of support and love! - Kate and Cydney
