So You're EnGAYged, a LGBT wedding blog

I’m a photo geek and not afraid to admit it. Not the kind that knows every camera and lens…I don’t even know how many megapixels my digital camera has (people always ask, too)! I’m the kind of geek that is obsessed with imagery. I’m a geek because I smile so much behind my camera that sometimes my face hurts. I don’t like cheesy pictures but sometimes I tell people to do cheesy things because then they laugh or giggle and that’s what I will shoot. The more comfortable my subjects are, the better the pictures will be so I try to make it fun when I’m involved but I also know when to step back and by a fly on the wall.

I work with both digital and film mediums. I like them both for many reasons. Film is just fun for me. It’s what makes me feel like I’m an artist and it seems to have a beautiful quality that sometimes digital just can’t capture quite the same. I have about 6 or more cameras that I bring to weddings (Canon Mark II, Canon 5D, Contax, Rollei-flex, Holga, Canon Ae-1 and sometimes others). Sometimes people look at me weird when I get out my old twin lens Rolleiflex and look down in it to focus. They don’t really understand why I still shoot with this old camera and I just smile.

I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in 2003 and I’ve been photographing weddings professionally for over seven years now. I truly understand how fast it all blows by and I know what it feels like to look at the pictures afterwards reliving every moment one at a time. Photography is so amazing and powerful. I feel very blessed to be able to capture these moments and relationships for my clients.
