So You're EnGAYged, a LGBT wedding blog

When my wife and I got engaged, we made a conscious decision to NOT be those brides – you know, the ones who are totally high-maintenance and unbearable. We also only allowed ourselves about 3 months to plan the whole affair, which came together beautifully. And when the planning began, the one thing we were both immediately incredibly particular about was our photographer. When we first met Kelly, she was immediately receptive to all of our ideas. My wife and I are not the typical couple, and we didn’t want the typical wedding photos that we could get from any photographer. What we did want something classic and vintage, and at the same time very fresh and modern – the overall theme of our wedding. A mix of vintage and modern, of fresh and classic… it seemed almost impossible, even to us. More than anything, Kelly is incredibly intuitive and has the ability to pick up on the personalities of the individuals she is shooting and translate them onto film. She is extremely professional and a bundle of fun, and really, really, REALLY knows how to create beautiful photographs. I fully intend on using her for all of my professional photographic needs in the future. - Julia & Sam

Kelly of Closed Circle Photography is friendly, easy to work with, and an amazingly talented photographer. Somehow she managed to get tons of perfect action-shot photos of our wedding and reception, all while using her ninja-like powers to stay totally unobtrusive. The only time we really noticed her was when she was expertly herding our families for portraits – not an easy feat. Also, she’s VERY queer and trans friendly. So far she is the only person besides my partner and myself who has managed to catch our relationship dynamic correctly in photographs. We’re in a same-sex relationship (both men), but my partner is visibly trans (ftm). Whenever people take couple-y photos of us, they try to pose him in the traditional "girl" place because they assume that he must be "the girl" since he’s trans. Neither of us is "the girl" – we’re both men! And if you want to get picky with it he’s essentially the boss in our relationship. Kelly didn’t mess up his pronouns once and she took wonderful photos of us where we actually look like ourselves and not some gay and trans heterosexual parody. - Tony & Oren
