Imagine riding in a helicopter to your wedding ceremony spot. Pure wilderness. Just the two of you. Oh, and your amazing photographer, Wei Quek from Photobolic and a helicopter pilot. Andrew and Sandi were sweet enough to write a few words about their amazing experience and traveling to Canada from Australia to be legally wed.

From Andrew and Sandi: After deciding to travel to Canada from Australia to get married (same-sex marriage is not currently supported by the government here), we decided the beautiful Canadian Rockies would be our location.  Not wanting to do the usual tourist thing and after coming across a celebrant who specialized in helicopter weddings we decided that this would be exactly what would make our day uniquely special.  Upon arriving at the heli-pad we were both brimming with anticipation and climbing into the chopper set off on our adventure together.  Cruising around the mountain peaks we decided to land on one of the small islands in the middle of spray lake in the middle of the mountains.

Our ceremony was serene and intimate with only the cool breeze of the mountain our external presence.  After sealing our vows with a kiss we enjoyed exploring our new found island until catching a scenic flight home.  It was the most memorable day in our lives, as was the first time that we felt truly recognized as a couple.

It means so much to us in Australia the current struggle the GBLT movement is going through in the U.S.A.  It is such a pity that our government here has taken the theocratic right-winged religious position.  We have even had a territory pass legislation to be overturned by the Federal government, truly very regrettable.  We only hope that our wedding selves as an inspiration for our community here in Australia and abroad and also shows that love, not oppression, will eventually win the day.

Can I just say these gentlemen picked the most beautiful mountain spot ever? I think it is amazing they planned it from a hemisphere away and found such an amazing locale. Plus those scarves are fantastic.

The wedding looks so beautiful. It makes me want to hop on the nearest helicopter and elope.

Oooo, I LOVE this wedding!!! If we eloped we would totally be taking a helicopter to a mountain top (and probably skiing/riding down). What a great looking couple too!
