One Shoulder Wedding Dress with Veil or no Veil?

I got an email this week from a girl I had met a while back on a same-sex wedding board. She has finally decided on her dress- the one pictured above in Ivory, not white- and is a little stumped. With a one shoulder wedding dress, what kind of veil and jewelry do you wear?

Jewelry:

With a neckline that is very different from most dresses, it’s hard if not impossible to pull off wearing a necklace. I have yet to see a one shoulder dress with a necklace that looks elegant. Things I am seeing are big chandelier earrings. It seems from the oscars to weddings, when a lady wear a one strap gown, she goes all out with earrings or a hair piece.

Veil:

Either go with a short veil, like a birdcage to not overshadow your one shoulder dress, or go for hairpiece.

When I was looking for my own bridal headband, I feel in love with Quirky Beauty Etsy site. And with a dress like this, it borders on Grecian. So why not Quirky Beauty’s amazing leaf headband?

I second the fancy hairband idea. But I also think a birdcage might like nice if the veil is on the other side as the shoulder straps.

I bought a one shoulder dress and the one strap has flowers all over it, so I am pulling my hair into a side bun on the opposite side of the strap and doing a few orchids in my hair. No headbands (I have a big head and wearing headbands for an extended period of time tends to hurt) and no veils (I have never wanted to wear a veil and trying them on in the bridal shop made me feel ridiculous, silly, and generally uncomfortable)

I second Kelly’s earring suggestion. You could go with a pair that are art deco-y/vintage or maybe a bright color (something blue). And, a flower or headband with a bit of french netting in your hair. Your dress rocks, by the way!

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I was the one seeking advice and I on the hunt for the birdcage veil and dangly earrings. Thanks so much!
