The reception! I wish I could be there now.
15 Oct
There’s nothing like having just about everyone you love under one tent. Even though it was overwhelming at times, the party part of the wedding was lots of fun. The best advice we got, and did our best to follow, was to try to be present during every conversation. It can be hard, considering that you will want to spend time with each person you see out of the corner of your eye. But somehow we managed to party, hang with almost all our guests, and still manage to eat our dinner.
(All the pictures are by the fabulous Cappy Hotchkiss.)

We couldn’t resist doing a first dance. Our friend Hannah taught us some swing moves, and we spun around to Ella Fitzgerald’s “All of You.” It’s fun and, more importantly, brief: George chose it because it was under two minutes. But as it turned out, we weren’t mortified dancing in front of everyone anyway.

It wouldn’t be a Jewish wedding without the hora. . .

George and I each danced with our dads. I left the song choice up to my pop, and what did he pick? “Sunrise, Sunset”! It was a little too schlocky for me, so I suggested we dance half to that and then cut in with some disco. Since we danced to “Staying Alive,” when I was little, we picked that. He taught me his version of the hitch-hiker, which apparently he had done at his wedding too.

We cut the cake to “Oh Oh I Love Her So” by the Ramones.
And of course, there was lots of dancing:
