DIY Dressing up Clothespins

One of the wedding details I really want to replicate is the string of polariods of J and me hanging from a piece of twine by clothespins. I am thinking of running the twine from the parking lot to the ceremony site, sort as a preface to our wedding. Of course, once I saw this DIY project, I wanted to make the clothespins pretty. Pfft no plain clothespins for me.  I changed a few things from that tutorial, mainly because I wanted to use my Xyron.  I bought it for the Save the Dates at 50% off, but I promised myself that I would use it for as many other projects as possible.

Materials
Xyron
Patterned paper
Clothespins
X-acto knife

Directions

1. Xyron the paper with the pattern side facing up

2. Peel the paper off slowly.  This is especially important if you want to use a thicker material like carnival tickets, where if you pull too fast it ends up all gummed up in a ball.

3.  Place the clothespins on the sticky side of the Xyron paper, leaving enough room for an x-acto knife to cut in between

4a. Cut around the edges of the clothespin as closely and as neatly as possible

5a.  Stick the plain side of the clothespin back onto the sticky paper and cut around the edges

4/5b. If you would like to use carnival tickets, 3 tickets cover both sides of two clothespins.  When sticking the clothespin onto the ticket, make sure to get as close to the inside edge of the arch as possible so there is enough left over to do the other side.

Here are my completed clothespins.  In the original DIY tutorial, she then coats the top in Modge Podge.  Do you think I should do that too or do you think they are okay as it?

They look great as is. I thought your first picture was the example you were working from at first! If you want to save them for use after the wedding (cute message board accessories?), the Modge Podge probably can’t hurt!

How sweet! I think they look great as-is. It’s going to be so cool to see how your wedding comes together!

Thank you everyone. I am really happy how they came out, especially the tickets. Will they stay better if I use Mod Podge? I am worried about the metal spring sticking up through the paper.
