About me: About me is always so hard! I’m a librarian by day and, oh, sadly a librarian by night, too. Oh well. I’d also say that I’m kind of an amalgam between Bob the Builder and Susie Q. Homemaker (my friends say Martha Stewart, but they haven’t seen how painfully inattentive to detail I can be). I bake, I sew, I knock down walls—whatever seems like a good idea at the time. I’m from the same town as Cindy Crawford, in northern Illinois, but now I live in Chicago with my sweetie, who spends her time trying to understand the little old ladies yelling at her in Russion (and Bosnian!) and learning to cope with the unforgiving climate I talked her into leaving Florida for. We just bought a house and are spending lots of time fixing it up, trying to see our friends, and choosing between the thousands of fascinating distractions that our city provides for us every day.

About me: I work in the nonprofit sector at an organization that combines environmental work with youth development, and I’m constantly reading, starting knitting/crochet projects I don’t finish, and trying to convince people that being a “cat mom” is good practice for being a parent. Both my partner and I are lifelong Pittsburghers, and consider ourselves to be about the luckiest people in the world. It’s not that we don’t love other cities and all they have to offer… it’s just that they don’t have the Steelers, or the Penguins, or pierogies, or the rivers, or… well, you get the point. We met while we were in high school at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center’s youth group, and the rest is history. We like tasting wine and beer, enjoying local food, being outside, and taking road trips.

About me: A Northern California girl at heart, I moved to London in 2009 to shack up with Alex and make a little home of our rented flat. We met in college at UC Santa Cruz at Kresge College (hella) and after 3 years of crushes (and Alex enjoying watching me walk away), we finally fell in love.
For Alex, it was snuggled up on a couch reading Ruthann Robson to one another; doing the New York Times Monday crossword puzzle; and dancing in the kitchen to Nina Simone. For me, I knew it best when one fall morning I woke up and couldn’t think of anything else but “She’s the one.”
I proposed on Easter Sunday of 2009, underneath the oak tree in her hometown where our initials are carved. Now we’re planning two full-blown, down-right-dancing weddings: one in Cornwall where her family lives, and one in Northern California where my family lives. This must be what bliss feels like.

About Me: I work with victims of violent crime and civil rights violations (hate crimes), including families of victims of homicide. In 2008, I founded Black Cat Rescue, an all volunteer network of foster homes serving homeless black cats in MA. I serve as the organization’s Director and Adoption Coordinator, which is essentially the really fun and rewarding job of kitty/human matchmaker. Sam and I started dating in college. We are both from Massachusetts but met at school in Upstate New York. Sam is a marketing professional and uses her considerable skills to raise money for our cat rescue efforts, which never fails to make me swoon. When we’re not doing something or other for the homeless cats of the world, we enjoy staying home and ordering free On Demand movies and lots of pizza.

About me: I live in Toronto, Canada, and after having spent a long time wandering, I am enjoying putting down some roots. I am a Canadian girl who fell in love with an American, and I am fortunate that my American is brave enough to weather the Canadian winters so we can be together!
