We chose to have our wedding in Joshua Tree because it is especially meaningful as the location of the first rock climbing road trip that we took together. In order to have some time together to soak in the exceptional day, we got up early and went climbing in the beautiful desert sunshine for a few hours before getting ready for our afternoon ceremony.  Once ready, we arrived at the campground where everyone had been instructed to meet and greeted many of our guests before hiking to the ceremony site. We let everyone find their seats in the amphitheater while we waited on the trail, savoring the moment.

Yes, this is a real engagement…but were actually featuring our very own blogger Brian!

Last month, Tom and I had our engagement shoot with the fabulous Kristina Hill, who just last week was added to SYE! She snapped us in some of our favorite spots in DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights. One of my favorite locations was the courthouse. I felt it imperative to shoot a few there in protest to the inequality we face in our home state. Those photos are my favorite!

Anyway, we just had the best time with her. And, we brought lots of fun props. I strongly suggest that all couples brings things to play with in their shoots!  We never had a dull moment and just look at some of the photos that came out of that day!!! If you are looking for a photographer, I highly recommend booking Kristina! You’ll be glad you did.

Lisa and Elissa got married at the Artists for Humanity Epicenter in Boston, MA. They included many of their family and friends in their Jewish ceremony, making it a community event and highlighting the importance of friends and family. In fact, the guest list grew so much they ended up having to move the ceremony from their original location! They were lucky enough to snag our Boston pro-gay vendor Ars Magna Photography.

We frequently joke that it’s like we’ve won the lottery — not once, not twice — but a dozen times in a row. How did we get so lucky to find each other?

Our friends joke, “every time they step into the kitchen together, it’s like they fall in love all over again.” Somehow, every day together has been better than the last.

Image snapshot from Greg’s proposal video

Last November we decided to get married, and we couldn’t be happier about our decision or more excited about upcoming the wedding. With two men in the relationship, we weren’t certain who should propose, so we both did. I (Greg) made Carl a short video based on Dr. Seuss’s “Green Eggs and Ham” (we’re both suckers for Dr. Seuss) and gave him a nice pair of cuff links. Carl proposed to me while picnicking (I love eating outside!) — specifically, under a single, twisted tree atop a rolling hill (the real-life version of Dr. Seuss’ fantasy images, in fact!). His beautiful, heartfelt words were accompanied by a Dali-inspired timepiece. Dude.

Our story is pretty “normal”
Girl meets girl on dating website.
Girls meet at coffee shop
Girls meet again 2 day later.
Girls go on “official first date”
Girls are hooked. . .
One year later, girls are married!
Short and sweet, just like us! :)

Charlotte and Katie’s engagement session was taken all around Portland, Oregon with Pro-Gay vendor Emily G Photography.
