So You’re EnGAYged seeks to match same-sex and allied couples with wedding vendors who actively support LGBT rights and freedoms, including, but not limited to, same-sex marriage. By highlighting voices from within the LGBT community, So You’re EnGAYged further works to build a community that can dispense advice, recommendations, and support to couples in the wedding-planning process. As the wedding industry has grown larger and more ubiquitous, we hope to serve as a reference for those who seek vendors whose business practices align with deeply held values.

Kelly Prizel is co-founder of So You’re EnGAYged  and owner of Kelly Prizel Photography . Her qualifications include four years of art school, spent in a smelly darkroom with equally smelly classmates; the complete collection of Martha Stewart magazines for all her DIY goodness; and being married to a professional homosexual (aka Natalie). When not blogging, taking pictures, or editing said pictures, Kelly is sleeping (because she blogs, edits, and shoots during all her waking hours). Kelly is also a trained veterinary assistant which is invaluable when dealing with the LGBT community. She lives in New Haven, CT with her wife, rabbits, cats and guinea pigs (no lesbian jokes please).

Lara Swanson is co-founder of So You’re EnGAYged and owner of Lara Swanson Photography . Her qualifications include web guruism, corporate experience, a killer tattoo and the ability, willingness, and body to do a photoshoot while wearing a bikini. Don’t let the bikini fool you, though: Lara is one tough cookie, volunteering as an EMT. Some of her best friends (Kelly and Natalie) are gay. When not chatting with vendors, running the site, and taking Civil War reenactment wedding photos, Lara enjoys keeping Kelly sane, working 9-5, and spending time with her husband Brad and their furry children Moses and Harold, who curses a lot for a cat. Lara is also a master of Wii Tennis. Lara lives in Alexandria, VA but is dreaming of a return to life off the NJ turnpike.

Natalie Prizel is Kelly’s wife and a professional homosexual. Her qualifications include degrees in LGBT Studies and English and very little else. She spends her days in an ivory tower that bears an uncanny resemblance to Hogwarts. She spends the rest of her days managing the synapses in Kelly’s very active brain. Natalie’s official title at So You’re EnGAYged is Problematizer.

So You’re EnGAYged does not guarantee and is in no way responsible for the quality or financial viability of any of its listed vendors. We do require third-party reviews as of September 2009 and will remove vendors whose reviews fall below 4 out of 5 stars. Please let So You’re EnGAYged know if you have a negative experience with any vendor if it relates to LGBT-friendliness.
