So we finally resolved our STD dilemma (tee-hee)! Since we had already sent out Save the Dates for our wedding that didn’t happen last year, we weren’t quite sure how to handle the design of the new Save the Dates for this October. Do we reference the old design? Or go in an entirely new direction? Do we remind guests that we realize most people already got a magnet from us once already?

As you may recall, our original Save the Dates resembled an old photobooth. I had them printed on photo paper and adhered magnets to the back. But what I came up with for this year, was a way to keep our original photobooth set-up (because I loved it too much not to use it again!) but with a new twist. Some people that received this new STD did not get a copy of the old one (including my parents), so making a joke of it didn’t seem appropriate. Instead, we remade our fun little word signs, plopped ourselves in front of a sheet and posed for our friends until we got the shots we liked. We even spiced it up with some mustache shenanigans, because mustaches make everything better.
This time around, I rearranged the layout so that it could be printed on a large sheet magnet. I actually think I like the design even better! I also used some of my Photoshop ninja skills to make everything black & white except the words. I threw it all together in Illustrator and voila! A jpeg of our Save the NEW Dates was born!

We printed the magnets through Vistaprint. They were running a Living Social deal so I was able to snag a $50 voucher for the site for only $10! Like the frugal bride that I am, I also waited until they had a freebie special. Sometimes they will feature 50% and even FREE promotions. However, after all that waiting, I found out the hard way that the Living Social deal could not be combined with these additional offers. But I still ended up only spending around $30 for magnets, greeting cards, envelopes and return address labels (which were totally free!).I thought it would be a nice touch to send the magnets inside a blank card (and because Vistaprint includes envelopes with every card order), we picked this really cute design from the site. We loved it so much that we will also be using them for our invitations!

We also personalized the inside of the card with this quote: “Love must be as much a light, as it is a flame.” – Henry David Thorea

Proudly perched on our fridge. Yes, next to a Mermicorn.
All photos by me!

So Cute!
Love it, so awesome! We’re also doing a photobooth type save-the-date because we’re always in the booth when there’s one available.

Love em! Great solution.
Very cute! Where did you purchase these at? Or how did you go about making them? Is there a website you used to buy them?
