Thanks to our pro-gay vendor, John Heil, for submitting this perfect sunny day wedding.
We got married on Friday August 27 in Stoney Creek, Ontario at a place called Liuna Gardens. We both started our day getting ready with the wedding party, Ben at our home and Jeremiah at the hotel. Liuna Gardens supplied a great set of wheels, a 1972 Daimler Limousine that picked up Ben and his party. We met at the hotel and swung by a historic home in the area for some pre ceremony photos. It was a great way to see and enjoy each other.
The ceremony was at 4PM on a beautiful sunny late summer day with a breeze coming off Lake Ontario. It was a wonderful feeling of happiness and support seeing the Groomsmen and Groomswomen walking down the long aisle towards family and friends. After the ceremony our guests enjoyed cocktails while we took family and wedding party photos around the grounds. We moved into the reception hall and had a wonderful dinner, great speeches and dancing.

1. Ordering wedding invitations takes longer then you think!
2. If it doesn’t feel right, don’t work with them. Selecting good vendors goes a long way to making the process fun and personal. – Lucky us for learning this early on.
3. Ordering wedding rings (especially for 2 men) can be interesting! If they say they can do ‘all custom design’ be sure to follow-up quickly; because as we found they can be wrong.
We kept things simple, and added in elements that had meaning for us. Ben’s side of the party wore kilts as part of the Irish heritage. This tied into our song down the aisle of Celtic Heart (from the Braveheart soundtrack). We were fortunate to have 10 friends and family in our wedding party, 11 if you include our young niece!
We designed the centerpieces for the reception tables ourselves. We planted small chili pepper plants in March. Using a piece of slate for the base, we added colourful gerber daisies, roses and other flowers, placing them on top. Beside the slate and flowers we added the chili plants, candles and the menu on a small wood tripod support.
