So excited to get an engagement session from North Carolina. So a big kuddos to our pro-gay vendor Carolyn Scott Photography for sending us this via Two Bright Lights.
The commercial says that 1 in 5 relationships starts at an online dating site…. so where else did we meet but on Match. com. Molly had just moved 1,000 miles away to a new city where she only knew one person (her sister). She was hoping to meet some people and make some friends. She joined Match.com with these intentions. Little did she know she’d meet the love of her life. Carla had just ended a relationship and, being a little shy, wanted to take some time to look from a distance. So she poured her heart out on her profile but left out one key piece, a profile picture. She could explore the options, but no one would contact the girl with no picture. She was wrong. Molly contacted her, first an e-mail, which led to a phone call, and eventually a date. Molly asked a ton of questions and talked incessantly, while Carla gave nervous answers. Eventually walls were let down and we’ve been together ever since. Molly still is the talkative one, with Carla being slightly more reserved but they balance each other out, laugh a lot together, and wouldn’t have it any other way.
We got engaged on October 24th, 2010. Carla and I were going to Myrtle Beach, SC to run our first half-marathon together. We had planned the trip starting in the spring, and I knew immediately that this would be the perfect weekend. We had actually looked at rings for over a year, stopping at jewelry stores, looking and dreaming. Once I knew the time frame, I wanted Carla to pick out the perfect ring. With some sneaky work with the jewelry store, I had the ring ordered and it would be in the day before we left for the trip. Carla had no idea. Our race was on a Sunday morning, and the proposal was planned for Sunday night on the beach. I wanted it to be perfect and had champagne (to celebrate the race, of course) and went down to the beach at sunset with Carla. We sat there on a nearly empty beach drinking champagne and watching the sun set over the ocean. I presented Carla with a gift, it was a wedding planning book that was customized with a collage of words and pictures that reflected our lives and interests. There was a card inside filled with sentimental words explaining how much I loved Carla and looked forward to the day we would get married. At the end were instructions to look at the Stationary section of the book. Carla opened the book to find a hole cut out of the pages that perfectly housed a beautiful, sparkly diamond ring, safely secured to the book with a piece of ribbon. On the opposite page was a post-it note asking Carla to marry me… Of course she said yes! A few weeks after the engagement, I realized that I really wanted a ring to show that I was engaged too, so we went together and picked one out.
We are getting married October 16th, 2011 at The Crest Center and Pavilion, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC.

I was wondering if they did a blog regarding The Crest center in Asheville? My partner and I are looking at that venue and were wondering how their experience was.
