2010 has been a whirlwind year for our family, and it is almost hard to believe that Nicole and I just celebrated our six month anniversary! I have very much enjoyed my time blogging with So You’re Engayged, but it is officially time to say goodbye. I hope that you have all enjoyed our adventure leading up to the wedding, and my many DIY tutorials.

When we sent out our invitations we sent one out to President Obama. I had read that if you send the President an invite you will get back a letter of congratulations. I was expecting to not get anything at all but when we got back from our mini-moon there was an envelope from The White House in our mailbox! We got a very nice letter of congratulations from the President!

It reads:

“Congratulations to you on this special occasion. Michelle and I hope it is blessed with love, laughter, and happiness. your union marks the begining of a lifelong partnership as you share in the joys of your life together. I wish you the very best as you embark on your journey together and hope that your bond grows stronger with each passing year.”

I would encourage any couple to send an invite to the president as it makes for a lovely keepsake, and increases awareness.

Send your invites to:
The White House Greetings Office Rm. 39
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
Washington, D.C. 20500

I wanted to also do a quick recap on how much we spent on our wedding. We had planned a very tight budget of $10,000 which we would have met if we hadn’t fallen in love with an amazing jazz band.

FOOD – 3022
BARTENDER – 100
CUPCAKES – 450
CEREMONY –  1250
EXTRA CHAIRS – 54
CELEBRANT – 500
BAND – 2750
HORN – 450
PHOTOGRAPHY - 2700
INVITES & STD – 300
FAVORS & DECORATIONS – 200
DRESSES & ACCESSORIES - 1200
HAIR & MAKEUP – 255
TOTAL – 13231
The band was worth every additional penny!
Nicole and I would like to wish our best to all of the 2011 couples!

This gives me hope. I sent one to them last April and I haven’t yet received anything. Just last week I was thinking to myself, Brian – you just aren’t going to get a response from the Obamas. Now I’m not so sure. Thanks for that! And thanks for your wonderful posts! I loved following along on your wedding planning journey!

  8. I wanted to invite the President to my wedding, but I really wasn’t a G.W.B. fan.

You can also invite the president to a milestone anniversary and send birth announcement!

    Congrats!
