A great peek at SD’s DIY projects she made before her wedding: her recaps of her wedding start in a few weeks!
While doing my wedding planning research over the past 6 months I was really taken by vintage brooch bouquets. I knew that I wanted one for myself, but buying one was completely OUT of the question. Why, you ask? Because they are so flipping expensive! Look for one on Etsy and they range from $400-500 and that’s ridiculous. I know why they are expensive because the brooches can be pricey and it is a lot of work to put one together. I tried to start gathering the brooches for my bouquet on Ebay, but I kept getting outbid on the auctions. There was a certain amount of money that I refused to go over and I stuck to that, but it was hard. I decided to ask the women in my life to send me a vintage brooch that I could use on the bouquet. It helped me keep the cost down and it made the bouquet far more sentimental to me! There are a ton of DIY tutorials out there about how to make one and here are a two of my favorites – Offbeat Bride and this is the one I ended up using from Emmaline Bride.
I still haven’t figured out how to finish off the bottom because I think that I’ll have my best friend help me out with it when she arrives. She is a floral designer and I imagine her ribbon wrapping skills far outweigh mine. I might even have some ribbons coming down from the bottom just because it is different – we shall see! More photos to come.
