I recently saw a post on the Brooklyn Bride featuring some of the craft projects in this awesome book called Handmade Weddings. There was a super fun peg board seating chart and I knew that we’d have to incorporate that into our wedding somehow. Since we’re doing dinner buffet style I decided that this would make a fabulous guest book! I set out 52 clothes pins and will secure them to the peg board and we’ll ask guests to write their best words of advice for the happy couple on pieces of paper. We will put these words of advice in envelopes and open them each week for the first year that we’re married. So much better than a guest book, right?! Here’s my process:

Last time I was at Michael's I bought a big S and a big N and painted them our colors. These will sit on easles in front of the peg board.

My Dad sent me some small bits of wire that I used to secure the clothes pin to the peg board. Someting pliable that won't hurt your hands is the best option.

Paint one side of the clothes pin and then the other. Inbetween the painting of each side - open and close the clothes pin, so it won't get stuck shut.

Peg board from Homo Depo - got two large sheets for super cheap. You can find it down by the pressed wood and it was already painted white - sweet!

Randomly place the clothes pins on the peg board...unless you need them to be all spaced out. I'm a double Aquarius, so I'd never have the patience for them to be perfectly even.

My Dad sent me the paper scraps that we'll be using. I think this gives people enough room to write something. The squares are 4 inches x 4 inches.

The colors I chose for this peg board are in the primary colors family, while the other one features pastels.
I’m interested to know if you’ve done something different than a guest book that people just sign? What do you think of my idea? Any suggestions to make it cooler? I’m not sure what I’ll have people put the cards into once they’ve signed them and I still have to purchase the envelopes (adding to wedding to do list right now). Thanks!
All photos by me.

Love the idea…never seen this done before and i believe its a better idea than a guest book, you can just have them write encouraging words and well wishes.
This is so cute! What a great idea!!!
I love that idea! It’s fun and you can incorporate specific colors that match your details – To take it a step further, it would be amazing to have an instant film camera that guests could snap fun photo-booth style pictures with and clip to the board with an endearing message!
@Natalie – we thought about that, but with instant film costing $1/shot – it didn’t fit into our budget.
