I am so not into the super expensive white wedding cake. Having a fun dessert table was super important to me and I’m going to make sure that it is very memorable. Here’s an example of what I’m going for – see above. I see photos of fun dessert tables on the wedding porn websites all of the time and the one thing I see over and over again is CUTE STUFF STUCK INTO THE TOP OF CAKES!  So, I went to my favorite site to find fun crafty stuff Etsy.com – to locate some fun trinkets to incorporate into the dessert table. The best place to find dime store delights is Hey Yo Yo. I’ve shopped on this Etsy seller’s shop before to get little plastic roses for cake decorations and they’re always a huge hit. The photos below will somehow be used in or on the dessert table – I am excited to see how it turns out!

The items that will be on our dessert table will be:

  • Donut tower (Nat has said she’ll find the best donuts in the city and I believe her)
  • Cupcakes
  • Bundt cake
  • Chocolate chip cookies
  • Macaroons
  • Swedish fish (my favorite)
  • M&Ms

Great packaging, right??

Love sprinkles for the cupcakes!

We are going to construct a donut tower - these will be stuck in some of them!

Cupcake wrappers that match our decor? Yes, please!

Stripey.

Plastic red roses - these look good on anything!

I will be tasking a few of my favorite gay boys to put this table together cause I know they’ll do a ridiculously good job. How did you choose your cake? Did you construct a dessert table? Any advice?

All photos by me except for the very first photo – thanks, Katherine for letting me use it. I’m a huge fan of your work!

Yay… perfect idea. For our wedding, we went to thrift stores and bought glasses and glass plates, glued them together and made cake stands and tiered cake stands… one of the photos in this post captures the final product: http://www.soyoureengayged.com/bloggers/diy-wedding-details/#more-5042

LOVE the idea…What would make your wedding cake more interesting is by adding miniature cupcakes around the wedding cake for a spectacular finish.
