The next day (yes it was a packed weekend of dress shopping), we went to the Nicole Miller store.  If you remember, I had previously made an appointment and then blown it off.  I made a new appointment because I really wanted to try on the strapless, crinkle dress with the gold hem.  I liked everything about it.  Unfortunately at the store everything made me look either like a lumpy potato sack or a garbage bag, which are actually two totally different lumpinesses.  On the plus side the sales lady was really nice.  Also they had a rack of discontinued samples and one of them was very pretty.  However it was more than twice as much as I wanted to spend and not twice as awesome.  While I didn’t like any of the dresses, it was mind clearing to go in, try them on, and realize they weren’t worth dreaming about.

We went across the mall street to BCBG, where I wanted to show my aunt two of their dresses.  I ended up trying on a super fluttery dress on a total whim and fell in love with it.  It is nothing at all like me, but it was wonderful.  It felt so light and swirly and I felt so pretty in it.

I have now been to 3 different BCBG stores and the sales staff has always been super helpful. They always bring me the most beautiful shoes to try on with the dresses (even with 3 inch heels the dresses are too long for me). The one downside has been that they don’t usually have sizes bigger than a six out in the store, so I usually have to ask them for my size if I want to try something on.

So now I have two dresses and I don’t know which one I like better.  I still have two appointments to keep in January, but I don’t know what I will do if I find another dress to love.  While I haven’t had that crying moment (and I really hope I don’t have it), when I put on either of those two dresses, I just feel happy instead.  My body feels relaxed and I cannot stop smiling.

It’s fun following along on your dress journey. So the top two contenders are the turquoise sashed dress from David’s and which one from BCBG? I really like both the satin and the lace BCBG dresses on you, but they are all great!

Okay, Ms. Sparrow, Miller told me y’all were engaged (and congratulations!), but I did not expect to see your pretty face when I clicked on the So You’re EnGAYged link on Practical Wedding!! I haven’t checked this site out all too much (I’m marrying a dude, so that might explain some of it), but I’ve been meaning to drop in. Go figure I’d see this! Timing! I love the dresses (favorites: #3 from Nicole Miller, and ALL of the ones from BCBG, actually), and I think J will love them, too. She’s a lucky gal. :D

Happy engagement, again, and hope the planning goes well!!

That is such a crazy coincidence! I also really liked the BCBG dresses. I was really surprised by how many “wedding” dresses they sell in the store.

Ok, I lied. I like two of your dresses: I think the champagne layered on is gorgeous!

  7. Ms. Sparrow says:

The champagne layered with lace is beautiful and it has a built in bra which = extra plus.

Gpa& G: We studied them. We’re so excited to see you modeling and looking so gorgeous!
Our most FAVORITE is the last one–the champagne/lace. You look totally awesome. It is a remember me dress. The second one was very pretty also.
Gpa liked the first one also with the black sash.
