Custom buttons designed & made by ButtonEmpire

So you know how I wrote about buying pewter, enamel, special WhiteKnot pins as gifts for our ladies of honor? Well, we sort of realized it was a lot of money to be spending on really little pins when we already had actual ribbon ones they could wear. And, well, we sort of also really love ButtonEmpire on Etsy and found the most super awesome alternatives….!

You see, after finding out that the discount on a group order of WhiteKnot pins resulted in a 5% discount–me and my pocketbook were a bit dismayed so I turned to my favorite purchasing friend: Etsy. After searching through for anything to do with white + knot + marriage equality and finding nothing, I ended up back at my favorite sassy button creator ButtonEmpire. We had ordered from her before, absolutely loving our buttons and interactions, and received our wifey duo pins with a free extra button that was of a dictionary page for ‘dyke/dynamic:’

ButtonEmpire now carries The Dynamic Same Sex Duo-1 inch Buttons for Married Cool People

What I found originally though on this saddened journey for something inspiring to give our bridesmaids was non-wedding themed at all: a set of 20 buttons that made up a map of London. What a cool way to bring our physical home with us to California and still fit in our vintage-esque theme, am I right? Plus, we love maps and it’s all about the journey…

‘London at a Glance’ by ButtonEmpire

After we found the London pins, Alex and I started brainstorming for a custom pin to match so that 2 buttons + white knot ribbon could triple as a gift, jewelry, and a corsage! Riffing off ‘The Brides’ theme on our UK and CA RSVP cards, I suggested ‘I’m with the bride’–which Alex then quickly turned, brilliantly, into ‘I’m with the bride(s).’ A quick few emails back and forth with Amy at ButtonEmpire to pick out the paper and font and we were set to go!

Knowing that I wanted to share the awesomeness with you guys, I asked Amy to email some photos of the pins before she sent them. Thus, when I received the email, I also got a sneak peak at the awesome extra, Prop 8 sassy button she’d included with the order.

How frickin’ cool is that!?

While ButtonEmpire is not an SYE-approved vendor (yet! Come on! Come on! You know you want to, Amy…) She has been an absolutely, outrageous amazing vendor  to work with, so pro-marriage equality is awesome , and if you have any button needs at all, I say she’s your woman.

I freaking LOVE these buttons. I wish I had them at my most recent wedding. Would be perfect if they said, “I’m with the Grooms”

Hey Erica (and Alex)! :) ‘Love love love these buttons idea, esp the map of London thing. You are absolutely right, it is the perfect way to bring the flavor of London to your CA wedding this time around! :) (similar to when you used the wooden bowls to incorporate a part of your CA roots on your UK wedding)

I adore the “I’d rather be smooching my crafty/nerdy wife”! My soon-to-be-wife will go ga-ga over these (She loves to brandish the ‘nerd’ term in reference to me every occasion get gets, to tease me mercilessly and lovingly no doubt ! Go figure! LOL!)

I’m happy that you both liked the suggestions re: the quotes. I’m sure your wedding party will greatly appreciate those little personalized accent you will make especially for each of them. If I were part of the wedding party, I know that that would really touch my heart that you took the time to do that despite all of the chaos and hectic schedule of trying to organize a wedding from thousand of miles away. :)

Hope all the wedding preparations are doing great. I wish you guys all the best; I know this will be a wedding to remember for the ages. :) I hope we could also partake in your joyous union, even if only by proxy by learning about it and celebrating with both of your through SoYoureEngayged. :)

Looking forward to hearing more about your wonderful wedding preparations. Thank you again for sharing! I’m really learning a lot and I feel happy to be gaining new friends in the process! :)
