UK Wedding Recap: First Look

Wedding Date: 17 April 2010 and 16 October 2010
Bio: My wife Alex is the medic, the Brit, the music & book lover, and the most compassionate woman I've ever known. I'm the writer, the pancake maker, the American living with her in London, and completely smitten with her. With the help of much family and friends, we've already thrown one amazing wedding in Cornwall, England, and now we're gearing up for a 'country kitsch' ceremony & party in Northern California--we can't wait for October!

After seeing my best friend’s wedding photos from her ‘first look,’ I knew I wanted to capture on film the first reactions of seeing each other on the day of the wedding. The only thing was that we didn’t really know *where* to have our first meeting. With the weather absolutely full of sunshine, outside on the balcony was way too washed out. The small reception rooms on the ground floor of the hotel were nice, but public and we expected some guests to be around. Not that we wanted our first look to be all that private… In the end, we met in the hotel room where I got ready…with John, Gill, Leslie, Paul, Mom and Alex’s dad, David all watching.

I just couldn’t get over Alex’s suit, and how well it fit her. She looks amazing in a waist coat, and the details on her suit…to die for…

Equally, Alex was stunned by my dress–nothing like seeing it in a photo in a different color compared to on me. Plus, my hair rocked. Not gonna lie, it out-stripped the hair trial in amazingness and the floral hair piece was the perfect touch, thanks to my bro and his girlfriend having awesome detective skills on Etsy.

And for a few moments, we just danced around each other and it sunk in: This is our day. We look fabulous. Let’s go get married!
