We tied the knot in Washington, DC shortly after the law was passed to allow same-sex marriages. The weather was absolutely perfect, so we were able to get lots of great pictures outside the Moultrie Courthouse and in a nearby park. The architecture of the city made a great back-drop.
The ceremony room did not lend itself for photographs and apparently all our guests suddenly stopped snapping pictures as soon as we got emotional because they became so absorbed in the moment!
I wore a cream Anne Klein dress that I found at TJ Maxx with a pair of purple shoes I’ve had in my closet forever and have been waiting to rock. I got a fresh arrangement of three purple orchids made for my hair. The wife wore khaki dress pants, a gorgeous tan and purple paisley tie, and a sweater vest (her favorite article of clothing).
After the half hour ceremony and extended photoshoot, we walked to Zola Restaurant above the Spy Museum to pop open a bottle of champagne and wait for our dinner reservations. Most restaurants in DC will close between 2:00 and 5:00. We had dinner at TenPenh and then called it an early night, heading home to enjoy married bliss.
**Editors note: I always advise people *not* to do jumping shots. I have watched people break ankles and completely rip dresses down the back (no joke). This has been a warning on the emergency wedding station ;)

What a lovely couple you two are. You exemplify how paring things down can make every moment and detail more meaningful. Congratulations on the marriage (especially the legal part) !
Thank you so much! It was the simplest most amazing ceremony ever. Sometimes I still can’t believe we are LEGALLY married!
Wow… love your pics!!
