If you read So You’re EnGAYged a wait for the real weddings or engagement posts, you have probably already seen Jenny GG‘s work. She’s one of our pro-gay vendors who is always sending us amazing photos. And she doesn’t disappoint with this beach-side wedding!

The perfect culmination of not only the effort and planning we had put into the last year, but of our entire relationship. Family and friends made it so much more than we could have ever imagined. Being on the beach was a dream come true for both of us, we had a blast.

Our gifts were amazing in more ways than one. Because it is not legal for us to get a marriage license in CA, every one got together and donated, as gifts, enough money to send us to Boston to get our license and have a small honeymoon after the wedding. It made it so special to know they were pulling for us to have all the same rights as most of them did.

Our reveal moment was amazing. There were so many moments that made it the most amazing day of our lives, but turning around and seeing the woman of my dreams look and FEEL as amazing as she did, was priceless.

Our location was the best. We went through a local vacation rental agency, and got a house on the bluff of a local beach. It was so simple, but beautiful it made it easy to not have to do so much decorating, and saved a ton on things like flowers and decor. Having the ocean as a back drop made every one not notice any thing that might have been missing.

We wrote each part of the ceremony ourselves, and had all of our bridesmaids read the different sections as our “officiants”. It made the ceremony so personal, coming from the people who meant the most in our lives read our words to each other. We got SO many compliments from all of our guests, and it really made a difference.

During pictures we had an amazing moment where our littlest dog (our dogs are our kids) came and circled up inside my wife’s dress. (We were sitting on the steps) It was adorable, and hilarious because she would not budge after that. Throughout the rest of the day she kept trying to hide back inside her dress, like a cave of comfort.

Venue: Local beach front property, Leucadia CA
Florist: Us
Caterer: Our family
Dress/Suit/Accessories:
I used my mothers wedding dress altered, and my wife got hers from Davids Bridal. Bridesmaid dresses were from Victoria’s Secret on line (an AMAZING 10-way dress that each of the girls wore as they wanted so it fit each of their body styles, and they could use it for almost any thing after the big day). We also gave the bridesmaids personalized flip flops ($2.50 in the wedding colors from Old Navy because we all wore flops on the beach.) We both also incorporated our parents wedding rings as our something borrowed. (My Dad’s who had passed away, and her parents original rings.)
