Reception-Release

Once the ceremony was over it was like a huge weight had been lifted off of our shoulders. We had been anticipating and planning that very moment for a year and once the moment had played out just as we had imagined, it was time to party!

A few times throughout the reception and the cocktail hour I looked around the room and thought to myself, “All of these people are here for us. That is so cool.” We are wonderfully fortunate to have such supportive family and friends. The effect that the love of our guests showered on us that evening was enchanting. There was a warm buzz that encircled the room and floated above us all night-it was almost an indescribable feeling.
Our first dance was to The Jonas Brothers, “When You Look Me in the Eyes.” Our second pick was Starship, “Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” which we closed the night with. Cheesy? Yes. Fantastically us? Most certainly.

Speaking of music, one of Heather’s major concerns was the task of finding a DJ. The last thing we wanted was to have a gold lamet cummerbund and matching bowtie show up waving the blow-up saxophones. (DJs please do not take offence to my shameless stereotyping). Our photographer was awesome enough to recommend Hi-Society DJs to us. www.hisocietydjs.com. These guys worked with us to blend the perfect mix of songs that kept the dance floor packed. Not to mention we gained two new friends who share our affinity for coffee houses and cheesy 80’s music…

Another moment that sticks out in my mind was when Jen, our photographer, snuck us away during the reception to snap a few more private shots. We got some alone time in the elevator and we also got to take these really awesome “vintagey” photos…

By the end of the night we were both emotionally and physically tapped out. It was bittersweet to hear the last song played as there were so many people we wished to catch up with and so many moments we didn’t want to slip away. But as the saying goes, “all good things come to an end” and so, that in a nutshell, was our wedding.
