Alison and Heather were awesome enough to give of enough info to split their wedding into 5 parts- so every day this week you’ll learn a little more about their wedding in Lambertville, NJ.
Heather and I (Alison) got married on September 27, 2009 at the Inn at the Lambertville Station in Lambertville, NJ. We love all things vintage so the station’s late-19th century decor was the perfect location for our ceremony and reception.

We got engaged in September 2008 in the Bahamas and planned for an early fall wedding for 2009. When we started the wedding planning process, we went for the white dress, 4-tier cake, centrepieces, place cards, DJs kinda wedding. A “typical” wedding I supposed most would call it. As Heather and I got more involved in the planning, many of our gay friends who want to get married were asking for advice. They complained that there was no example to follow so I started looking for one and it lead me here, to So You’re EnGAYged.

Ironically I stumbled upon soyoureengayged after the wedding. And, after peeing my pants a little with excitement I had an internal burst of sheer exhilaration. All of the stories of love were absolutely fantastic and it was so refreshing to see other gay weddings that looked like ours. Once I read almost ALL of the posts on the site, I knew that I wanted to become one of the many others who have shared their story.
When I sat down and started to summarize our wedding day, I was having some trouble getting my thoughts together. I decided to split up the day into sections and I wrote down the first word that came to mind for each one. Here’s what I came up with:
Pre-Wedding Primping-Nausea
Getting Ready- Hectic
First Look- Tranquil
Ceremony- Euphoric
Reception- Release
Details- Painstaking but totally worth it
Ok, so I cheated a little on the last one…But, as many already know, a wedding is filled with a wide range of emotions. The anticipation and the planning of the day can be frustrating but the end result is well-unforgettable. Hope you enjoy our wedding story!
