We’re rocking the West Coast all this week: today? We have Seattle, WA with the shoot by Calima Portraits, one of our pro-gay vendors.
We’re getting married on September 3rd, 2011 at Promontory Point in Chicago.
Rachel and I met in the summer of 2006 through friends and the attraction was instant. I remember everything about the first time that I met her- the timing wasn’t right until two years later. I asked her to see Feist with me at Ravinia and we’ve been together ever since! We always knew there was something there and the first moment we were alone together we just knew…
Rachel proposed to me while I was working an event at the Experience Music Project here in Seattle. It was The Supremes exhibit closing party and my salon was doing “quick” 60′s styles on guests of the party. Rachel and our friend stopped by while I was working away and everyone that I was working with knew that it was going to happen. My line of folks to do up-do’s on was getting smaller and smaller but I was too busy to notice. Rachel sat down in my chair and asked me for a hairstyle (which was strange, as she has short hair and it’s not really something she would typically be interested in). She somehow got me in front of everyone and before I knew what was happening she got down on one knee and popped out a gorgeous ring! I immediately started sobbing- I was shocked!
We decided to have our wedding and reception back home in Chicago to be close to our family and friends even though we have been living in Seattle for the last year. Domestic partnership is recognized as having the same rights as marriage in Washington state (which is extremely lucky for us), but we intend on honoring our friends back home who are married but their rights don’t apply in their home state.

So adorable! Congratulations!!!
