Carrie and Stasia met in 2004 through their sorority, Delta Gamma, at Villanova University and quickly became inseparable. They were friends for several years before pursuing a relationship. Stasia surprised Carrie by proposing on the side of a snowy mountain while skiing in upstate New York on January 29, 2010. Carrie’s engagement ring is made of recycled white gold and conflict free Canadian diamonds (from Chicago’s own Leber Jeweler). Stasia’s ring (which she recently received!) is from Brilliant Earth and made of the same materials. The night of their engagement, they were joined in NYC by their local family and friends for an engagement party. And all these photos are by our new Pro-Gay vendor Wen Photography.

We plan to celebrate our love and the commitment of marriage with a Cape Cod ceremony and reception with lots of family and friends. We chose Massachusetts as our location because the state offers marriage equality. It is really important for us to be “married”, as we believe all loving couples deserve to have their committed relationship recognized. We are disappointed that our current home state of Illinois does not offer marriage equality nor does it recognize same sex marriages preformed elsewhere. However, we are hopeful that through activism and legal actions all people will someday be treated equally. We are currently planning the ceremony for the summer of 2011, though we have not set an exact date yet.
Carrie works as a Field Organizer for Amnesty International in their downtown Midwest Regional Office. She received her undergraduate degree and Masters degree in Communication from Villanova University. Carrie loves the summer/beach, dogs, music, social justice and meeting new people.
Stasia is an adult oncology nurse, specializing in Bone Marrow/ Stem Cell Transplant for patients with Leukemia, Lymphoma and Multiple Myleoma at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. She earned her nursing degree from Villanova University, as well. Stasia enjoys her twin sister, thrift store shopping, traveling and their 2 cats, Jairis and Fluff.
