While Alex and I love a good theme (and a good theme party!), we never really came up with one for our UK civil partnership. We have a theme for our California ceremony (more on that phase of the wedding planning after April, ladies & gents–and let me tell you, it’s gonna be good….), but for the UK our ‘theme’ was more words & colours (I promise that is the only time I will write ‘color’ with a ‘u’) than any catchphrase: an elegant, simple people- & food-oriented day with purple & green, like tulips.

With no theme as such, our accessorizing has come down to colors–and purple to be exact. Green is my favorite color and yet purple just looks so damn elegant (can elegance be a theme?) with champagne & brown outfits! Here are some of the things we’ve come across in our purple accessory searching:

For the suit:

As it turns out, Alex’s biggest purple accessory is going to be her shirt, whether it is a button-up or tank top underneath her waistcoat. Still, there are a few other pieces which would look quite nice with her outfit (or yours!):

Purple Lego Cufflinks by Numpty on Etsy

Of all the purple cufflinks I’ve seen online, these were too much fun not to post…

Purple Sugar Tie by Gresham Blake

The shop, Gresham Blake, where Alex is getting her suit tailored is known for brightly colored linings, funky ties and outrageous silk scarves. Alex was drooling over a few while we were there that’s for sure…

Pop Art Lady Silk Square by Gresham Blake

(If you go to their website, Alex’s sister had the one with the octopus for her civil partnership!)

Orland Fair Trade Pendant Necklace by Turtle Love Co. -- An SYE Vendor!

With button-up or waistcoat, the cut and style of this silver and amethyst necklace would sing with a suit!

For the suit or dress:

Looking for my wedding accessories has been a bit different because for as much as I would love to wear cufflinks and a kick-ass tie, they’re not going to go with my dress. And I LOVE my dress. These are a few of the things I’ve come up with for myself…

Bridal Hair Accessory by Mollusa on Etsy

LikeĀ Wasabi, I was too stoked onĀ the idea of a veil so I’ve opted for a pretty silk flower instead.

Brass & Amethyst Necklace by ArtWark on Etsy

While I pined over the Turtle Love Co. amethyst necklace for a good few weeks, it just wasn’t the right look with my dress. I knew I wanted to wear amethyst–my parent’s birthstone–and so I continued my search and found this gorgeous necklace by ArtWark.

My wedding shoes by Lotus

To be honest, white or cream shoes never crossed my mind

Purple Pashminas from a local market

Instead of going for a jacket or stole, I’m opting for two variations on a purple pashmina to keep me if it decides to windy, rainy, or just typically English…

How is your accessorizing going? Any amazing or quirky finds?!

Ack! Lego cufflinks?!?!? I guess I know what my brother’s getting for his Best Man gift – Awesome.

I love the choice of purple to go with brown and champagne. Those shoes are fantastic. (I almost bought the same ones after seeing them on your other shoe post!)

I’d gotten into a bit of an accessory slump… found the shoes but have otherwise not had much luck. The few things I have tried out were disappointing, and so I kinda of stopped looking around. But all your super-cute stuff is getting me geared up to jump back in the accessory game!

Christina– the shoes are by Lotus. I came across them because a friend had them!

Mandy– What shoes did you get?! I can also relate to the accessory slump: I found it overwhelming and depressing at once. Weird? I don’t know. BUT I’m stoked my finds got the excitement going again–Let us know if you find anything good!

I just tried on the whole ensemble together and giggled for about 10 mins… :)

The lego cufflinks are awesome, but I love that scarf. I think it would even be great framed on a wall.
I have never accesorized anything in my life so once I find a dress I am going to need super help.
