We had so much fun on our engagement shoot! Nic totally hates having her photo taken, even by me! At the end of the day, over a well deserved plate of chicken tenders, she actually said “that was really fun!” For our wedding photography we decided to go with the ever-so-talented Kelly Prizel. From the moment we met with her to go over the contract I had been talking about shooting our engagement photos at the NYC Transit Museum.
Our wedding has taken on a vintage theme, and shooting our engagement photos on vintage subway cars was a huge dream for me! The museum was awesome! Each car had reproduced vintage ads from the era they were in service, and there were very few people in the museum that day. The only downside to shooting on the old subway cars was the heat! I can’t imagine what it must have been like commuting everyday in those cars packed with people and nothing but a little fan! I think that the juxtaposition of the vintage dresses and vintage setting showing two women publicly expressing their love is really stunning. It’s exposing of a love and a life that in that era would have remained very private. It felt very freeing!

I wanted our photos to be artsy and beautiful. Kelly really did a wonderful job of making that happen, and we really enjoyed working with her. You can always tell when she likes a shot because when she previews it on the camera she literally does a little jump for joy. It is really nice to see someone so passionate about their craft, and it made us soooo excited to get the photos back!
