You’ve seen my dress (I had a fitting earlier this summer and it looked great!), so I thought I would give you a quick update about what I’m planning to accessorize it with.

The Green Wedding Shoes (Nina Shoes in my favorite color):

(The lighting in this picture wasn’t the best. Sorry about that, but you get the idea)

Flower Hair Clip (custom made by Stephanie James). We emailed about the details and then she sent it to me in the mail. She’s absolutely wonderful to work with (though super busy, so give her some lead time).

For jewelry, I am planning to borrow a thin strand of freshwater pearls and a simple pair of pearl earrings from my mom. Maybe a bracelet too, but I really want the focus of my jewelry to be on my wedding ring. I’m going to carry a bouquet of locally grown, white flowers (hopefully anemones will be available) tied with the lace from my mom’s bouquet (She made her own fabric bridal bouquet for her wedding and we still have it tucked away in a guest closet somewhere). That will be my something old. Something blue, yet to be determined… though Ginger is the sewer in our household, and might be sewing our wedding date and/or initials into my dress in blue thread, or something like that.

So far, I think I’ve put more effort into my outfit than any other wedding task. We picked the first venue we saw, but I spent endless hours thinking about what I wanted to wear, shopping for a dress, and picking the right shoes. I have to admit I was one of those little girls who dreamed about their wedding dress. And there was a moment there where I had no idea how to square my childhood bridal dreams (sans groom) with my adult sense of style. It took a while to be able to picture how Ginger and I would look together on our wedding day. But, now I can’t picture us wearing anything other than what we picked. It was really important to me that I felt stylish and bridal, but still comfortable and myself. I think I totally succeeded. I know that what I wear on one day doesn’t matter that much in the grand scheme of things, but I also know I will feel pretty and ready to rock all night in this outfit. And that gives me some peace of mind and just pure joy.

Also, sorry for the radio silence over here. Things got crazy with school, but the MBA is done, and I’ll be back all month (and until our wedding May 21, 2011) with more wedding updates.
