Now that the wedding is 4 months away, I have been trying to crank out as many DIY projects as possible. Here is a quick round up of what I have made recently.
Project: “I Heart You” Sign
Purpose: For use in pictures and photo booth
Here is a picture of the back.
To thread the ribbon, I cut two parallel slits, one inch down from the edge and one inch apart. The different layers of card stock are squares measuring 5″, 4,5″, and 4″. I used double sided tape to connect them and clear nail polish to prevent the ends of the ribbon from fraying. The ribbon’s length was about 8 feet.
Project: Matchboxes
Use: To light sparklers after dark

The checkout lady at the grocery was a concerned that I was buying 50 matchboxes at once. She seemed to think I was going to try lighting them all at once. I used the instructions from Style Me Pretty, but I made the template in PowerPoint because I couldn’t get Word to make upside down text. Also, I had been searching for a way to use the cursive font (called Hannibal Lecter), I really liked it, but it wasn’t carnival at all and a little hard to read.
Project: Cupcake Flags
Purpose: To decorate cupcakes for the Friday night party
These were super easy. I bought 300 toothpicks at CVS for a buck and used my 2″ hole punch to cut them out. I used Eat Me as an Alice in Wonderland reference, but to negate the dirty factor, I added the Love Me to the opposite side.
Project: Door Hangers
Purpose: To reserve rooms at the Hubbell
There are a total of 6 bedrooms at the venue. We need 3 of them for wedding party members and the other 3 will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. I wanted a way for people to be able to politely claim their rooms and also to make sure we got the ones we wanted. This way you can hang your name on the door, i.e. if your name is on it it belongs to you.
