I wanted to make a covering for the candles like this so I don’t have to worry about whether or not the jars are ugly. I tried using card stock (the one on the left) and vellum (the middle and the right). The vellum has a nicer curve, but if folded too hard it cracks and breaks.
1. Mark 1.5″ from the edge of your page so that the paper is 7″ wide instead of 8.5″ (for a pasta sauce sized jar).

Instructions after clicking more!
2. Trim off the 1.5″ strip
3. Mark 1.5″ again, but this time on both sides of the paper
4. Fold the paper in the middle and along the 1.5″ margins
5. Fold the paper along the middle line and mark off 1″ intervals
6. Cut from the middle to the folded 1.5″ line at the marked 1″ intervals
7. Roll up paper and leave it for a day
8. Unroll paper and tape the top and bottom margin area together
9. Push the lantern down to give it a shape

CUTE! Great idea. I bet the velum ones looks especially pretty when lit!
