So Nicole and I had a meeting with our banquet manager at the venue… who I’m convinced is an angel in disguise! She is acting as a day-of coordinator which is above and beyond what I expected and has totally put my mind to ease about so many things! While we were there going over details and picking out the color of our napkins she let me setup my centerpiece on the table and snap a few pics!! I have to say that it looks great, and she thought they were real flowers which was a huge compliment! I found some round aqua place mats to use as the base and they will have votive candles on the table with it. It looks a little small on the table but once its loaded up with champagne glasses and plates I think it will look nice.
So here is how they all go together:
You will need some tin pails (I got mine at Target from the dollar section) Styrofoam balls that fit the buckets, scissors, a big knife, tape runner, ribbon, some sticky jewels, and of course some paper flowers… see my tutorial on how to make them HERE.
Next measure out how much ribbon you will need. I put mine around the bottom of the pail. Make sure you cut it just a little longer so you can overlap the edges.
Use a tape runner to make one side of the ribbon sticky.
Then carefully stick it down around the pail.
Now the bucket is all ready to go!
Next comes the most dangerous job. PLEASE USE CAUTION!! I am not responsible for any missing digits!! Carefully cut your Styrofoam ball in half. You could use the whole ball if you are afraid to cut it in half… but its a lot cheaper if you use half. Choose wisely.
Pop one half in the bucket and save the other half for your next centerpiece.
Then get out your bucket of flowers that you made. This bucket here made about 2 3/4 centerpieces. To find out how they were made go to my previous post HERE.
Start by putting the first flower in the top center of the ball.
Keep placing flowers around the first one until you reach the bottom. I had to trim the wire ends of the flowers I made so they went in nice and didn’t get caught up and bend.
And there you go! A paper flower centerpiece!
But the fun doesn’t stop there! I am addicted to these sticky jewels… and I think they dress it up nicely. So I stuck them to a few ends of the paper flowers to add some sparkle and some color.
Just a few here and there… its so easy to go overboard!
I hope you enjoy my tutorial! Anyone else out there making paper flowers?

Lovely! I really like how the tin bucket reflects the color from the aqua mats, too, and I also thought they were real flowers from the first photo.
these are flippin beautiful! and they look so real!
holy moley, those are gorgeous! my fiancee is now worrying that we have another dyi project on our hands…. :)
YAY! Im excited so many of you think they look real. I have to be honest before I put my first one together I was really afraid they were going to look cheap, but I love them!
Evelyn I would love to see how yours come out!! I will warn you and your fiancee that they are a lot of work! My soon-to-be wife had to put me on a strict paper flower making schedule!
These look beautiful especially with the aqua mat! I love the dollar section of stores! The CVS clearance section by my house it is awesome.
I love the buckets, especially withthe little added detail of the ribbon! And I definitely wouldhave thought they were real too. They look amazing!
Thank you! I was worried at first that the aqua mat reflection was too bright, but once I saw it in the venue I liked it so much better!
I think the ribbon helped the pails look classier!
