Nicole and I first met in art school where we both majored in computer art. After college we both wound up working in different industries. Nicole is a 3D Animator in the Exhibit Design industry and I am a Broadcast Graphic Artist. So needless to say when it came to the invites we knew we would be designing them ourselves!
As I explained in my post about crafting our save the dates our muse for the wedding designs was a yard of fabric I picked up from my hometown fabric store. The fabric we fell in love with was chocolate brown and aqua damask print and it has inspired almost every item we have designed for our big day.
For a while now I’ve been in love with a store called Paper Source. They sell fun kitschy gifts, and teach lots of techniques for making your own invitations. Unfortunately there isn’t one near our house, so we decided to take a day trip to the one in Princeton and buy all the supplies we need. We decided on square chocolate enclosures with a diagonal pocket and pool blue and white papers for the invite and map inside.
We wanted both our colors represented on the front of the invite, so we decided to cut a damask pattern out of the front of the chocolate enclosure, and paste the pool blue paper behind it. I bought a used Pazzles paper cutter from craigslist to aid us in this task and the last few weekends Nicole and I have been cutting all the invites and pasting in the pool blue paper. Initially we had a few headaches but we are on a roll now and almost all of them are cut out!!
The next step: designing the invite and map inserts…. stay tuned!

Whoa! These are so awesome!
And how did I not know about Pazzles before?!?!?
Oh, so cool! You guys are rocking it.
These are amazing! So lovely!
OMG your paper cutting is crazy!
Wow, those invitations are Ah-MAZ-ing! Incredible job! I can’t wait to get one :)
I am so thrilled with how they turned out! We just finished them all today so stay tuned for the next posts!! Kristin you should be getting yours soon!! I am in love with the Pazzles machine it is amazing and I love that you can cut anything you design and not just pre-made designs. I am a little sad that the invites are all done, they were so fun to make! I’m tempted to start an invite business!
