The day of our wedding, Tom and I, along with our wedding party, officiant and photographer, took a blow up speed boat to the island of Las Caletas to spend the day there before our guests arrived just prior to the ceremony.

That meant, we would have about six hours of the day to relax before they all showed up ready to watch us get hitched. In reality, 6 hours was nothing. There was so much to do! But we tried to relax as much as we could before the wedding festivities and set up began. We started with a bit of swimming. That lasted about 30 minutes for me. I had things to do…
I made my way to the bridal suite to unpack the two giant wedding suitcases I had brought. I also figured that I should set up a schedule with the girls and the photographer because there was only one shower and 9 of us. (Later I spotted another 2 showers in the spa area so we kind of used those as overflow – mainly for Tom and I). Other things we had to discuss were the appointments and order of the girls who had decided to have their hair styled, and in my sister’s case – dyed. She had had her hair done (badly) in North Carolina before the wedding and was really upset about it, so I treated her to a new blond dye-job.
Then once the schedule was kind of done, I made my way down to the ceremony site to see how things were coming along before jetting over to where the dinner would take place to make sure my dinner table was set up correctly. By the way, we had decided to have these areas be a little far from one another so I was out of breath most of the time from literally running from place to place. In the end it was all worth it but that’s another blog all together.
After reviewing the sites, I found my finace and told him to come with me. I had scheduled the two of us full-body one-hour massages as a little treat. Combined they were only $100.00 US dollars, which I thought was extremely reasonable! Boy, am I glad I did that! We felt completely relaxed, which we both needed. Then all of us had the most amazing lunch around 1:30pm.
I couldn’t believe it – here we were – it was happening in a matter of just hours!
Following lunch, Tom and I ran to the house to get ready. We had a portrait shoot with our photographer planned and wanted to get as many of the photos done as possible so that we could partake in the cocktail hour (which was gonna be fantastic). So we showered and bolted. Because we wanted to take full advantage of all of the gorgeous island, the shoot took a little longer than we originally anticipated. Before we knew it it was like 5pm and the guests would be arriving very, very soon. We went back to the bridal suite to check on the girls who were ready to go (thank God!). They looked beautiful! My friend David (of the Wedding Party) took our clothes and re-ironed them so they would be ready for the ceremony as Tom and I jumped in the shower for the third time that day (It was 90 degrees!).
We were ready, the catamaran had docked, it was nearly show time.
Tom and I made our way down the rocky path to meet the wedding party and take our places. We had not had time to do a run through, but we figured that was ok – we had all been actors at one time or another. We’d be fine.
To say we were emotional is an understatement. I took one look at my wedding party and started to cry. This day was happening. It was really happening.
Believe it or not, I don’t have many of photos from the set-up/running around stage of the day. We were just too busy to remember. However, I do have this shot taken as I was getting ready in the bathroom. My fabulous photographer, Kristina Hill snapped it as I was fixing my hair.

I look forward to my future posts so that you can view the location, ceremony, reception, and all of the other images as my guests did. Needless to say, there is a lot more yet to come. :)
