Seattle wedding photographer Jenny Jimenez was awesome enough to send this awesome Washington wedding. With sunglasses and umbrellas for ceremony attire and gorgeously lit portraits, it’s hard not to swoon over this wedding. But then you just laugh when you see the watermelon shot and realize this wedding was all about *them*.

Emily: For Shawna, her favorite moment was our recessional:
When they said “You may now kiss the brides” while we were still kissing we started playing “Girl , you really got me now” by Van Halen, and our entire wedding party did a wicked routine to it! Our son was air guitaring, Bride’s Maids were doing back up and we lip synced the whole thing!! We rocked that recessional!! Emily’s favorite was when the DJ snuck “It’s Raining Men” into the mix and we broke into a spur-of-the-moment lip-sync performance. The photographer even tossed us umbrellas to use! Guess it’s perfect that we both love performing!
We incorporated music that we love from beginning to end: from walking down the aisle, to the recessional, each song represented something important to us. We also had our friend (who just happens to be our amazing hairdresser) perform the ceremony. Having a close friend who knows us well and has seen our relationship blossom from the beginning made it really personal.

We designed everything around the Swedish lodge where we had our wedding. It was outside in a forest, so that inspired all of our design decisions. The big, organic sunflowers were probably the element that tied everything together. They’re so elegant, but at the same time rustic. That’s really the feeling we were going for, clean and elegant, while still being warm and welcoming. Everything else fell into place from there: mason jars for the centerpieces, moss green tablecloths, and hints of classic white throughout. As we chose each design element, we just went with our gut. If you choose things you both love, you can’t go wrong. Your wedding will automatically reflect your style and who you are.

Funniest moment of the day? When our son hit on our photographer.
We had such a blast! We just wanted to have fun with our friends and family from beginning to end, and that’s what we did! It felt like the party of the century. We were able to share our love with the people we care about and incorporate all of our favorite things into one great night. What could be better than great ribs, great beer, great wine, great friends, great music, and great hair?
It’s important to keep in mind that it’s your wedding, and that day should reflect you as a couple. What you love, what makes you smile and laugh. There are a lot of people who will have opinions and ideas, and it’s great to take those in, but the best tip we can give is to always make the final decision based on who you are as a couple. We have no regrets about our day because it really incorporated everything we both wanted. We look back often and just say, “Wow! That was a great wedding! That was OUR wedding.”
