All I can say is I’m jumping around the house today. I’m so excited to say So You’re EnGAYged is officially launched!! Get ready for tons of LGBT-friendly vendor profiles, DIY tips, gay marriage news, stories of real weddings, and following our 6 amazing bloggers through their journeys of planning their own weddings.
So let me introduce everyone!

Dawn & Jen are such an inspiration. They have been together 23(!!!) years and are planning their New York wedding for September 6th. They are super excited to finally have NY legally recognize same-sex marriage, so they will head on up to CT, get the legal work done, and then head to le Parker Meridien in NYC to officially celebrate.

Since our next bride has yet to propose, this mysterious lady is going under the guise of the characters from Wicked, their favorite play. Elphaba just went ring shopping and found the perfect ring! So everyone help calm this girl’s nerves and leave some love over here.

I know these ladies well since I have been reading Desaray’s blog forever and have met with her several times since I’m photographing their wedding. Desaray and Lauren are having a Quaker wedding in Dupont- Washington DC. Afterward, everyone is going to celebrate this union in their backyard. I love how intimate and full of meaning their wedding is going to be. Kids and their adorable beagle will be included.

Next up is Ms. Grrrl. She and her partner are planning an out of town wedding in western Massachusetts at a renovated barn. She can’t quite believe she’s blogging since she never envisIoned herself as the ‘wedding type’. But there is no wedding type– who would not be freakin excited about getting to marry the girl of their dreams? Her frequent haunt? Etsy!

Wasabi and Ginger are blogging from New Orleans but plan an getting married in MD/DC, where they both grew up. With a wedding date of March 4, 2011 they have plenty of time to plan and really come up with a intimate ceremony that reflects them both. They will be getting married on their 6th anniversary of being together.

No, the next two ladies are not cats, they are just going to go by the pseudnyms of their cats Roxy and George. They will getting married at a small inn in New York’s Hudson Valley on June 14th. George is having a custom suite made for her which I’m so excited to read about and see how hot she looks on her wedding day. And of course Roxy will be glamming it up in some lovely big dress.
And who am I? I blogged about my wedding planning process for a year over at Two Brides. After planning my own wedding and starting my own wedding photography business, I found a very ugly side of the wedding industry. I was trying to find modern/cool vendors who would be excited to help me plan my wedding only to realize a good majority of them out there either didn’t want to work with me at all or were only ‘ok’ with it and simply wanted my money. In 2007, I did not find a single wedding photographer who had a same-sex couple on their portfolio. I wanted to know where are the pro-gay vendors were! There are other LGBT resources for wedding out there but they were outdated most of the time and were only made up of vendors who had the $$ to pay them off. No questions of how they felt about gay marriage, just money.
After a blog post by Miss Gingerbread (and the whole Wedding Bee controversy, another blog post for sure), my head was chugging along. Why didn’t I start a resource that I would have found helpful? So after marrying my wife Natalie on September 21, 2008 (best day EVER!) I started thinking about all this. I talked to my friend Lara Swanson, another wedding photographer, and we started brain storming. And it just went from there!
So you can find my tips three times weekly under the category Kelly’s Tips. I’m so excited about this site and can’t wait to hear from all of you!!
