I had the pleasure of interviewing Christina Hill of cHill Weddings, and am totally inspired by her portfolio and rave reviews – be sure to read through to the end to see some spectacular wedding inspiration!
Tell me a bit about your business.
cHill Weddings specializes in multicultural events for the budget conscious. No matter the budget, we work hard to find the right vendors for the couple, in addition to incorporating cultural and other personal aspects into their wedding.
What do you love about what you do?
I love being a part of each couples special day. My job is never boring because every wedding planning process is unique! My favorite part of the planning is making everything come together the morning of the wedding – and knowing that the couple’s vision for their wedding has become a reality.
How did you get into doing what you do?
I enjoyed planing parties since I was a child, but never thought of making it a career. I was on a path to medschool, but after my wedding, I realized the importance of wedding planners and coordinators and decided to change careers. Soon after, I worked at high-end Philadelphia ballroom, and eventually started my own business in 2007.
What do you wear when you’re doing what you do?
For meetings, I wear anything from jeans to a suit, depending on my style for the day! For weddings, we all wear black dresses and accessorize with our favorite items. I personally prefer to work in cute flats, but I’m always amazed at how great my staff is in heels!
What’s unique about cHill Weddings?
In addition to coordination and planning, cHill Weddings has a great designer in-house who creates custom logos, seating charts, programs, and invitations. Everything is hand drawn so the design is unique in every way.
If you haven’t done a gay wedding, what would your dream gay wedding include?
I don’t particularly have a “dream gay wedding” since I view all weddings as unique and all equally special. But as with any wedding couple, I hope our first gay wedding will be filled with love between the couple, family, and friends. Of course, some fabulous details that are off the beaten path would be awesome!
Do you have a favorite “moment” that happens while you’re doing your job?
My favorite moment is usually when the couple is exiting the ceremony with all their guests celebrating. It’s so exciting to finally see the couple wed especially after many months of planning.
Rave and Picture time!
….Christina found vendors that matched our style AND or budget. She matched us with Andrew our photographer, Brown Betty our baker, Natalie for hair, Mila for makeup, Robert Ryans our caterer/venue, and Magical Sights & Sounds or DJ. I also probably threw her for a loop when I requested a filipino and korean dance troupe, but she delivered. That’s basically our entire wedding. What would i have done without her. Additionally, her and her team arranged our centerpieces with the flowers we provided. Could we have asked for anything more? – Christine, bride
….Christina herself was beyond exceptional, a pleasure to work with. She found me some great vendors and she did an amazing job decorating our reception (which was no small task). Her other assistant was amazing as well, sewing my dress in the middle of the reception when the bustle came out and it ripped. Christina always responded back quickly to every crazy email and was a pleasure to work with. She truly is one of the best wedding planners in the area. – Kristen, bride
Christina and her entire team are wonderful! Everything my fiance and I needed was taken care of in a timely and professional manner. She took care of everything from helping us select a venue for the wedding to checking us into our hotel on the night of our wedding!!! Christina is a pleasure to work with and takes care of even the smallest details! – Amber, bride
In regards to our wedding day, let me start off by thanking you and your staff for all your hard work. We absolutely loved what you and your staff did for our wedding. I can’t thank you and your staff enough for making our day go so smoothly. We are truly impressed by your professionalism and attention to detail. – Kassie and Martin, couple
