I would love to see posts about
-how to navigate when you’re forced to use non-friendly vendors for one reason or another
    - advice for Trans brides or grooms
    - helpful hints for having a traditional wedding, but still keeping it gay

Thanks for the chance to enter!!

    I want one!

Okay, what I would really love to see at SYE is some discussion about ceremony format. My gf and I are very traditional and want a traditional wedding, but while she’s wearing a dress and I’m wearing a tux… I still want my Dad to give me away. Or something. We have a dear friend of the family already lined up to be our officiant, and I’m sure she has lots of suggestions since she’s done many gay weddings, but I’d love to hear how others are planning their ceremony.

Other than that, keep doing what you are doing! I visit the website every day and I find it so inspiring. Thank you!

  5. I’d love to see blogs on:
    * Guest reactions to gay ceremonies
    * Terminology we use eg. marriage/ ceremony/ wedding etc

I’d love to see more Real Weddings, maybe as a weekly feature. Oh and more grooms, but I know that you are working on that.

My wife and I got married July 2008. How about information on getting married out of the country (Canada), what to expect, what paperwork needs to be filed…. and all of that legal stuff.

I love your website! I’m not gay, but I’m a huge supporter of gay marriage and I think this is a great way to get the word out! I have so many friends that could use the support of strong women such as yourself!

I love to look through pictures of real weddings – I think you should post some of those!

How about – how to deal with co-workers. The negativity and then there are those that use you as their token gay married friends… blah, blah, blah. I’m a high school math teacher in the tiny little village that we live in. My wife is a special ed teacher one district away. I’m totally out while she still walks a fine line. I’d love to hear other teacher’s views and how they respond to students too. Oh, and one more suggestion. How to incorporate your kid(s) into the festivities.

    - Real same sex weddings
    - Same sex relationship advice column (because wedding stress, marriage stress and social expectation stress can really take its toll on a couple)

I would love to see a column on the vendors in each state that are NOT gay friendly. I always see the vendors that are gay friendly but I would love to know which ones I shouldn’t even bother contacting. That would be great!!

    I REALLY want a t-shirt!!!!

My gf and I have been engaged (yes engaged, with a ring and a party)

We have made some plans, we are getting married in Jan 2011 and have been planning already for about 6 months and it seems like it could take the next two years just to find all the vendors in our area that will work with a same sex couple AND WE LIVE IN Rhode Island where marriage is legal on two of the states on either side of us. I cant imagine how difficult it must be in other parts of the country where it is not so liberal. I would love something where gay couples could ask questions, bitch and or complain if need be and ask for help because chances are if I am having an issue someone else has already had the same issue, and can maybe help.

I’d like to see more on surprising issues GLBT couples may not think of. For example, we wanted a ketubah (formal Jewish wedding contract). Many were advertised as “gender neutral.” However, we found out that they were all in the masculine form in Hebrew, which would work for a straight couple or gay men, but not for lesbians.

Similarly, all of the floral packages for weddings assumed that there was one bride and multiple bridesmaids, not the other way around.

And we had to think about things like coordinating the lengths of our veils, when I am significantly taller than my fiancee.

I’m getting married in September 2009, and I would really like to do something like the bouquet or garter belt toss. Any ideas for something to toss?

Also – I don’t like groom’s attendant for my ladies in my wedding party… I’m not a bride, so bridesmaid won’t work… any ideas on a good name for them? THANKS!
