Wedding dress shopping for Ginger
Ginger’s dress search has been a little challenging. There were ups; like when we realized how freakin’ beautiful she looks covered in French Chantilly lace. And there were downs; like when we realized the price of said French lace in bridal world. And, there were mistakes; like when she thought she had found THE dress, and I gave a less than thrilled response when she came out of the dressing room. Please take my advice on this one: No matter how annoying it is to be stuck in a crowded wedding factory, or how underwhelmed you might be by a particular dress option, smile anyway, because your future wife is trying dresses on for you, and you love her, so just smile!
The thing is we aren’t going for traditional, long bridal gowns. But, we don’t fit in the femme/butch dicotomy. The selection that appeals to Ginger is slim to begin with. Then you add a couple requirements and it becomes a challenge. She wants something either floor-length-no-train, or cocktail-length-not-a-micro-mini. Something hot, but not too revealing. Shoulder’s covered is preferred, and the less expensive the better. She wants me to be a little more in the bridal spotlight while still wearing something special. Well, there aren’t a bunch of dresses like this at salons. Maybe we will have something made, or score something vintage, but then we cut her mom out of the all important dress shopping experience. Sigh, it’s hard. But, here are some options we are tossing around, opinions welcome!
Jcrew: Love the back, love the price tag.
Amy Kuschel: Really love the back, looks amazing on her, hem can be brought down to knee length, not so keen on the price tag.
Stephanie James: Again, we are stretching it with the price tag here, but this one’s another good option.
So what do you think? Which is your favorite?

Stephanie James!! (although I do like the J Crew gowns)
However, I’m totally biased. I’m wearing a Stephanie James dress at my wedding. It *is* pricey, but her dresses are stunning. {swoon}
I’m definitely thinking about being a Stephanie James bride. But, Ginger is trying to be a little more frugal than me, which I can respect. I do love her dresses.
I haven’t been yet, but i am planning on getting my dress at Nordstroms because online they have a lot of floor length, no train white/whitish dresses for not bridal prices.
